We are excited to welcome Carol Aguirre as our 2019 Conference keynote Speaker on Saturday, November 9th, 2019, from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm.
Carol Aguirre is an expert in the field of public education policy and programming. She provides strategic direction to grow non-profit and public organizations, policy initiatives, and educational programs. She has over twelve years’ experience advocating for public education, underserved populations and gender equity, including an appointment in President Obama’s Administration at the U.S. Department of Education. Currently, she is the Director of K-12 Special Populations at the NYC Department of Education’s Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality, the largest city school district in the country. In this role, she oversees all policy and program initiatives impacting teacher recruitment for special education, multilingual learning, career and technical education for NYC’s 1,800 traditional public schools. Passionate about paying it forward, she is an active member the NYC Mujeres de HACE, a program focused on supporting Latinas succeed professionally through professional development and education management. She holds a Master’s in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Notre Dame de Namur. In her free time, she loves to dance salsa, cook and explore her new neighborhoods in NYC.
